Gwyneth Paltrow has been offering lifestyle advice for more than a decade, but don't expect her to escort you into old age. The Oscar-winning actress says she may just disappear from public life when the time comes to sell her lifestyle and health company Goop.
The company, which she founded in 2008, is not for sale right now, however when she does sell it, "I will literally disappear from public life," Paltrow said in a wide-ranging interview in the magazine Bustle.
But can't Paltrow, who is 51, hang around and help show folks how to make it to their 70s and 80s "with grace," asked interviewer Emma Rosenblum, who's also the chief content officer for media company BDG, which publishes Bustle.
"I’ll probably try, knowing myself," Paltrow said. "Or … I might just disappear, and no one will ever see me again."

What is Gwyneth Paltrow's Good. Clean. Goop.?
The Bustle interview is timed to the arrival of Paltrow's new skincare line Good. Clean. Goop., which launches on Amazon and Target on Sunday, Oct. 22.
The lower-priced line of skincare and wellness brands launched under Goop Beauty features "clinically proven beauty products" like moisturizers, exfoliating scrubs, and shampoos, according to a press release.
Paltrow said the decision to sell in Target came after many conversations with the company and her familiarity with the business. And Amazon, too, is a plus because it makes the product even more accessible. "I think of it as us being able to offer something that can be more broadly consumed," Paltrow told Bustle.

Gwyneth Paltrow on public life and social media
When the Bustle interview shifted to her social media habit, Paltrow said she does not keep up with social media. "I end up muting a lot of things. I don't know, I find it hard. I wish I could not be on it, but simultaneously, you want to understand what's happening," said Paltrow. "Then, of course, I need it for work, and they always make me do these stupid things on it."
Paltrow, who won the best actress Oscar in 1999 for her role in "Shakespeare in Love," has also performed well on Instagram where she has 8.3 million followers and, famously, posed in her birthday suit on the site for her birthday in 2020.
Speaking of birthdays, the interviewer then commented on how Paltrow could perhaps make her exit around her 55th birthday, which led to another mention about disappearing. "I'd be happy with that," said Paltrow. "I will disappear from public life. No one will ever see me again."
But she's not quite ready to vamoose just yet, especially because it's her responsibility to keep Goop in the public eye, Paltrow said. "We're not ready to sell yet. I need a few more years."
As for the new Goop offshoot at Amazon and Target, Paltrow told Bustle, "I just hope people really like it and try it."
